Sheriff’s Structure In Ekiti Crumbles

Barely 24 hours after the Supreme Court removed Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) his political structure in Ekiti State started to crumble.

Checks by our correspondent showed that some members of his group have started making overtures to those in the Senator Ahmed Makarfi group with the aim of aligning with them.

For instance, former Deputy Governor Abiodun Aluko, who had hoped to contest the governorship election next year if Sheriff had won, was quick to make calls to members of the State Working Committee of the party to call for reconciliation.

Also, the arrowhead of the Sheriff group in Ekiti, Senator Clement Awoyelu, has been off the politica radar.

The group’s office along Iworoko Road, Ado-Ekiti has been shut down.

A former PDP State Chairman, Makanjuola Ogundipe, who headed the South-West wing of the group, has abandoned Ekiti State.
