Governorship Ambition: APC Asks Oni To Resign Position

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the Deputy National Chairman?, South, Chief Segun Oni, to resign his position before he formally declares his intention to contest next year’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

Sources in the party said the party the leadership felt that felt Oni could not aspire to be the party’s candidate for an election as still hold on to a position in the party hierarchy.

The party felt Oni cannot also be a judge in his own case, as any issue arising from the party’s primaries would still be decided by the leadership of the party.

The party is of the view that Oni”s colleague in Anambra State i.e. the National Auditor didn’t wait for the national leadership of the APC to call him before resigning

The party also said that the order is applicable to all national officers of the party that is interested in contesting for the governorship ticket of their state.
