...Party National Auditor Sacked Too
An Abuja High court on Friday sacked national secretary of the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Olagunsoye Oyinlola and national auditor, Mr Bode Mustapha for not following due process in their emergence at last year's national convention.
Mr. Oyinlola came to the race 24 hours to the special national convention of the party last year April while screening of aspirants was going on and after list of approved candidates to contest the position of national secretary had been pasted.
The embattled party scribe was sponsored and pushed to become the National secretary of the party by the state governors of the party as a way of compensating him as a former colleague in Osun state before the court sacked him.
President Goodluck Jonathan through the prompting of the party's governors prevailed with other contestants in the race to step down for Mr. Oyinlola who did not pick nomination form.
Notable contestants for the position of National secretary at the convention forced to step down for Mr. Oyinlola included former ministers of education and transport, Mr. Tunde Adeniran and Ebenezer Babatope, former minister of sports Mr. Waheed Adedoja and former national legal adviser of the party, Mr. Olusola Oke.
The former Osun State governor was part of the 10-member of the party's National Working Committee that attended the emergency meeting of the committee last Tuesday without the national chairman, Mr. Bamanga Tukur to rescind the decision to sack Adamawa party state executive, which has pitched members of the NWC with the governors.
Chairman of the party in Ogun state had filed a suit to challenge the election of Mr. Oyinlola and to ask the court to declare that his election did not follow due process.
Justice Abdul Kafarati of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in his ruling ordered the removal of Oyinlola as the Secretary of the Party saying his election did not follow due process.
Mr. Mustapha from Ogun State was also sacked by the same court as the party's auditor for not following due process.
