...Says 'I am Not a Political Fraudster'
The Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), gubernatorial candidate in Delta State, Mr Great Ovedje Ogboru, has denied allegations that he has concluded plans move to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Nigeria's biggest opposition party.
There reports recently that “Ogboru Confirms ACN Move“, a development that raised concerns from his supporters and majority of the party faithful across the state.
In a telephone chat with FrontiersNews, Chief Ogboru denied ever giving such confirmation notice to newsmen. He said, he has not come to such consensus with his party DPP to move as an individual or moving the party to join force with ACN to pursue his political ambition.
His words, “I have not formally or informally whatsoever taken a decision of decamping as a person or party to collaborate with ACN to obtain my mandate. I am not a political fraudster“, he declared.
According to him, such a rumour is propagated by evil people and mischief makers that are used by greedy politicians to cause diverse factions in political parties but not in ours (DPP), he noted.
Ogboru said, he has not also come to terms with the leadership of the ACN to quit DPP. “ It will be out of place to leave a party that has become a household name for another“, he disclosed.
He called on publishers to always verify their facts before jumping into conclusions. Ogboru called on the party‘s faithful to ignore such publications noting that, it is the handwork of some unscrupulous elements in the state.
On his Court review, he said, the judges who are handling the review case knows what is right and wrong. They should be able to give a sound verdict at the end of the review.
Confirming Ogboru‘s position, the Chairman of the Patriotic Deltans for Credible Elections (PDCE) and a DPP stalwart Chief Dr. Love Martin Ohwevwo said, "Chief Ogboru, the peoples general cannot move and even if he will, not at this time that the mandate is closer than ever".
"Ogboru is a true picture of his father, the years I spent with him at the Central hospital Ughelli, he never acted as a Chameleon. Now his own very son, both fights their courses to the end. So, the peoples general cannot move to ACN now, he disclosed".
Chief Ohwevwo said, those carrying such rumours are enemies of the party saying that, it is only a political propaganda to desuade his teeming followers.
Speaking on the review case, Chief Ohwevwo noted that, the review case at the Supreme Court is a way forward for Ogboru.
He said, it is constitutional for a case to be reviewed if its final judgement is not satisfactory, and for such a case to be reviewed the constitution also stipulates that it meets certain criteria which Ogboru's review case meant.
These provisions includes: (1) There must be an evidence of nullity--- a situation where no one is declared winner of a case (2) Evidence of lack of hearing (3) Evidence of a missing link among others.
He expresses hope that, if the judiciary is not fraudulent and bias in their judgement, Ogboru will come out victorious, he called on the party faithful to remain loyal and calm, urging them to continue to display the spirit of patriotism as they wait for the final judgement.
On the delay of the local government elections in the state, he blasted the state governor Dr. Uduaghan noting that he does note have the confidence and financial ability to do so.
Chief Ohwevwo alleged that Uduaghan must have used the state money to settle his political godfathers hence conducting the LG elections is getting delayed than usual.
He further alleged that Uduaghan will have to borrow money to conduct the LG elections, noting that the state treasury would have been empty at the moment.
