Former Governor of Kaduna State , Colonel Abubakar Umar (Rtd) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend his order to the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN)  and the Federal Ministry of Finance to pay the second tranche to states.

In a statement on Monday, Umar described as shocking,  the revelations that governors contracted consultants  at an exorbitant fee to secure the refunds from the federal government and therefore urged Buhari to halt further release to the governor’s.

“It is now revealed that some state governors contracted consultants with fees ranging from 10 to 30 per cent to secure   refund from  the Federal  Government of Nigeria,” he said.

He said “with this shocking revelation, president Muhammadu Buhari  should suspend his order to the  the Federal Ministry Of Finance and the Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN for the release of the second tranche of  the refund.

“It is also evident now that most of  the earlier released funds were deployed for other purposes   than payment of salaries and pension arrears as directed by Mr President. This impunity has got to stop.”

It could be recalled that President Buhari last Thursday ordered the CBN and the Federal Ministry of Finance to ensure the payment of the second tranche of the funds to  states so that they can pay arrears of  salaries and pension to workers.

Dear Colonel Umar it’s good to hear you again, especially at this crucial period. I have ever been one of your million admirers. Many thanks for this contribution. I pray the president adhere to this. The governors?
