Nyesom-Wike_fpSixteen aggrieved People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship
aspirants from Rivers State, have called on the national leadership of
the PDP to disqualify a former Minister of State for Education, Mr.
Nyesom Wike, from the 2015 governorship race.

The aspirants at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday accused Wike,
who is also a governorship aspirant in the party, of compromising the
entire process of the last ward congress in the state.

The congress was held nationwide by the party on Saturday.

Many aspirants had complained about lack of transparency in the
exercise and claimed that the exercise was marred with irregularities.

The aggrieved aspirants asked the members of the National Working
Committee of the party to, as a matter of urgency, “cancel the flawed
Rivers ward delegate elections.”

If their demand was not met, they said they would seek redress in court.
The aspirants, who were at the briefing were Major Lancelot Ayanya

Chief Barrister Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Prof. Israel Owate, Mr. Gabriel

They all signed a statement which was read by their leader, Owate.
The statement read in part, “We call on the NWC of the PDP to cancel
the flawed Rivers State ward delegate elections. That Wike should be
disqualified as a governorship aspirant for compromising and
corrupting the processes leading to the ward delegate elections and
bringing the PDP to disrepute in Rivers State and the nation.

“We call on the NWC of the PDP to invoke its constitutional powers as
provided in part viii section 5, sub section 5 (2)(e) of the PDP
constitution as amended to dissolve the docile and incompetent two-man
