Bauchi State government has firmed up investigations to begin criminal proceedings against some top serving and retired civil servants in the state who are allegedly involved in massive fraud in different departments of government over the years, our correspondent can confirm.

Our correspondent’s investigations revealed that those under the radar for likely prosecution are those sacked and indicted in the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the state pensions board and the state civil service.

The state governor Mohammed Abubakar sacked the SUBEB management following the refusal of the team to pay staff of the local education authorities despite the release of N2.5 billion for the exercise.

Two permanent secretaries, six directors as well as pension desk officers in the 20 Local Government Areas of the State and Local Government service were involved in an alleged fraud in the state pensions board.

Our correspondent gathered that the immediate past head of the Bauchi Civil Service of the state, Mr. Abdon Dalla Gin, though has retired from the service may also be affected in the planned prosecution exercise for his role in the alleged falsification of the figures of staff in the state.

Mr. Gin, our investigations revealed was allegedly fingered in the N1 billion ghost workers fraud recently uncovered by the state government.

Abubakar’s administration had a few months ago uncovered over 26,000 (twenty six thousand) ghost workers out of an existing 105,000 staff strength of the state an exercise that saved the state over N 1 billion.
