The immediate past Vice President (VP) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Mr. Nnamadi Sambo, has moved to a rented apartment in Asokoro, located in the metropolis of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, our correspondents investigations revealed.
Mr. Sambo, who was deputy to former President Goodluck Jonathan for five years, moved out of Aguda House, the official residence of the Vice President, about a week before leaving office for the rented apartment, in Asokoro District of the FCT.
Our reporter gathered that the apartment which presently house the former VP  belong to the late Mr. Mohammed Waziri, former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s close associate, who died in a plane crash during the Obasanjo’s regime.
“The widow of the late Waziri rented the place to the former VP because she has no immediate use of the house and nobody presently occupies the place,” a close associate of Mr. Sambo told our correspondent.
Frontiersnews could however not confirmed if Mr. Sambo was using the rented apartment temporarily before moving into his personal house or that he did not acquire any property in the FCT during his tenure as the nations’s number 2 man.
“It is strange to see a former Nigeria leader of that status moving into a rented apartment,” a top politician told our correspondents adding that “if this is true, then we have hope that Nigeria leaders are beginning to be statement but lets wait to see if he is just deciding Nigerians,” the source who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said.
The former VP, who hails from Zaria, Kaduna State prior to his appointment as Nigeria’s VP in 2010 served as governor of Kaduna state.
While he served as President Jonathan’s deputy, he over saw the privitazation of the nation’s power sector as well as other key government infrastructures under the Federal Government privatisation programme of the Jonathan’s government.
