Lions Club Devotes November 13th To 19th To Tackle Diabetes

Lions Club Worldwide is devoting November 13th to 19th this year to draw awareness and take far reaching decisions on how best to fight diabetes.

During the period, 48,000 clubs worldwide will brainstorm on the dangers diabetes pose to humans as it claims that by year 2040, 642 million people will have diabetes.

From statistics released by the club, an estimated 422 million adults currently have diabetes while an estimated 422 million adults currently have diabetes.

The Lions Club noted that Diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in the world, and the sixth leading cause of death among women while one person dies every 7 seconds from diabetes

It also claimed tat five million people die annually from diabetes and 50% of people with diabetes don’t know they have it

The club noted that 77% of people with diabetes live in low- and middle-income countries

“Diabetes afflicts individuals, families and communities—including those we know and love. The statistics below are shocking, but we can change them through greater awareness, prevention, and treatment”.
