Ondo APC To Mimiko: Road Rehabilitation Is An Apogee Of Deceit

Segun-Mimiko_fpThe All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter has said the rehabilitation of 100 roads project initiative of the Dr Olusegun Mimiko-led administration is belated and the apogee of deception from a government with rich history of deceit.

In a statement issued in Akure by its Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, the APC described the Governor Olusegun Mimiko-led administration as a drowning government struggling to get its bearing and direction.

The hurriedly-packaged and poorly-articulated initiative of Ondo State government to rehabilitate 100 roads across Ondo State is a failed attempt to hoodwink the people of Ondo State to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and shore up the dwindling popularity of Governor Mimiko ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

It is on record that, the need to rehabilitate bad roads in Ondo State has been at the fore of public discourse over the years and our Party, the APC, has raised related-issues through our press releases several times.

Our suggestions have consistently fell on the deaf ear of an anti-people administration. The questions the people of Ondo State are asking are: Why did it take Governor Mimiko 6 uneventful years to flag-off the rehabilitation of 100 roads when it predecessor, Dr Olusegun Agagu, constructed and rehabilitated over 10,000 kilometres of roads across the state?

Omo’ba Adesanya said, the people of Ondo State are fully aware that, Governor Mimiko intends to deceive them with the same template he used at Ilaje and Akoko area of Ondo State when he went there,(Ilaje) few weeks to Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency bye-election of 2013, to flag-off a road project that is yet to kick-off till today. Likewise, few weeks to the 2012 gubernatorial election in the State, Governor Olusegun Mimiko cajoled the good people of Akoko, he flag-off the construction of the following roads: Ajowa-Ijasie, Ajowa-Ikare, Okeagbe-Afin, Efhe-Ogbagi, Ikaramu-Akunnu and Ugbe-Epinme roads, but as usual, he has abandoned these projects immediately he was sworn in for the second term in Office and today these roads are terribly bad.

In the disjointed and poorly-articulated press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, it should not surprised anyone that the government refused to mention the names of the affected roads and displayed lack of clue about the kilometres of roads the rehabilitation exercise would cover. This shows that the initiative was hurriedly-packaged with the sole aim of deceiving the electorate to vote for the out-of-favour PDP.

If we may ask: What is the outcome of the over-hyped recruitment exercise of 2,000 teachers sponsored by Ondo State government last year? This is a government of deceit per excellence.

We can assure Governor Mimiko that the people of Ondo State are tired of listening to the same deceitful lyrics whenever elections are weeks away. The people of Ondo State are wiser and they would reject the PDP, a Party whose government has thrown Ondo State people to perpetual darkness for over 15 years. The people are anxiously waiting for February 14 to vote General Muhammadu Buhari as the President Federal Republic of Nigeria and the All Progressives Congress,(APC), in the forthcoming general elections, the statement reads.
