All is not well in the relationship between Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Southwest, no thanks to the jostling for the national chairmanship position of the PDP.

Checks by our correspondent revealed that even the zonal leadership, which Fayose helped to put in place is no longer welcome by the governor.

The National Vice Chairman, Southwest, Dr Eddy Olafeso and his executive members, who used to frequent the Government House, Ado-Ekiti, are no longer coming.

Fayose, it was gathered, is supporting the emergence of somebody from the South-South as the national chairman of the party in next month’s convention.

His calculation is that such a scenario would not affect his own presidential ambition.

The development is at variance with the thinking by most PDP leaders in the Southwest that the region produces the national chairman of the party.

The region has not done so since the formation of the party in 1998.

However, the governor is battling hard not to lose face with party leaders and at the same time, not get his ambitions truncated before the 2019 general elections.
