The Peoples Democratic Party Speakers’ Forum has commended Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, for the giant strides his administration has recorded in the last three years despite the economic crunch in the country.

They stated this in Ado-Ekiti after an inspection tour of capital projects executed by the Fayose administration.

In a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the speakers, who were led by their Chairman, Rt Hon. John Lebo of the Cross River House of Assembly, also described Fayose as a role model in leadership and governance.

Lebo, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues from Delta, Ekiti, Rivers, Gombe among others, said Fayose’s style of worming himself into the heart of the people was second to none.

” This is impressive and commendable, we have seen the new high court complex, the new Governor’s Office, the ultra-modern Ojaba Market and the flyover, which is probably the longest in the country and one can only give kudos to Governor Ayodele Fayose.

“What is great about this is that these things are being done in the face of serious economic challenges. Going by available data, Ekiti is among the states earning the least incomes in the country. The governor is also open to his people who show their love by hailing and relating with him on one-on-one basis,” he stated.

In his remarks, Governor Fayose said the visit by the speakers was a kind of peer review.

“We can learn from one another. We share boundary with four states, but whoever comes to Ekiti would know that there is a difference that is visible even to the blind. States controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party are doing well because we have the experience.

” Those in government at the federal level are groping in the dark because they  don’t have the experience and are not ready to learn. For instance, they want to sack 22,000 teachers while we have placed teachers in high esteem here in Ekiti and we are achieving results.

” Let them come to Ekiti State to learn from us how we do it. We are delivering on our promises to the people and we will work on till our last days in office. Our determination to better the lot of our people is unshaken and we are marching on,” he said.
